A community website for the residents of Dallington in East Sussex

This coming Friday 1st February, there will be men in the churchyard replacing tiles on the roof. The churchyard will be closed for about 2 hours around lunchtime. This is to protect both the workmen and the public from any accident or mishap. Diana will be putting up “men at work” signs and will be around to redirect any visitors.
The Woodland Trust is looking for volunteers to take part in the Observatree project which aims to protect the UK’s trees, woods and forests from new pests and diseases.
Volunteers receive training to enable them to correctly identify signs and symptoms of Observatree’s 22 priority pests and diseases as well as carry out effective site surveys

National Village Halls Week takes place from 22nd-28th January 2019
To mark the occasion and to publicise our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 29th January at 7pm, Dallington Old School Management Committee members have produced a newsletter showing what’s been going on at the hall over the last twelve months thanks to a small team of dedicated volunteers . We hope it will encourage people to come along to some of our events, including the increasingly popular Library Cafe held every Monday afternoon from 2-4pm and perhaps offer support to help enable this vital community asset to flourish for another 150 years. The Old School Library Cafe will not be open on Monday 24th and Monday 31st December. (Apologies that these dates were wrongly listed in the December edition of the Parish Magazine.)
We will be open again on SATURDAY 5th January 2019 10am – 12 noon, and MONDAY 7th January 2 – 4pm.

Once again the beacon will be lit come what may!
Many hands made light/lighter work of selecting, cutting , decorating and hoisting our Christmas tree into place this morning. What a morning weather wise, snow, just a few flakes, rain, rather a lot and bitingly cold wind. Pam Fuller provided hot drinks and food for the workers, who ranged from toddlers to elders of the Community.

East Sussex County Council has begun its public conversation on the ESCC Core Offer. The Core Offer is an assessment of the services that ESCC think are most needed by residents, businesses and communities and that they should be expected to provide in a difficult financial climate, it will inform and direct their budget planning over the coming three years. ESCC have launched a survey seeking views of those that live and work in the county, particularly whether they agree with the approach, whether the priorities and services in the Core Offer are right, and if there are ways they can work differently with partners and communities to do more to support each other.
