Road repairs B2096 Earlsdown 10.12.19

East Sussex Highways will be carrying out repairs/replacement to two drain covers on the B2096 at Earlsdown on 10.12.19.
The works will be carried out from 8am to 4.30pm under temporary traffic lights, which will be manually controlled from 8am to 9.30am and from 4pm to 4.30pm.

RDC Christmas Waste Collection

As usual over the Christmas period there will be changes to waste collection arrangements with no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve.  From Monday 13.01.20 all waste and recycling collections will return to their normal days.
This year RDC will not be sending out calendars to residents, thereby saving £16,000 in postage alone.

As in previous years, garden waste collections will be suspended for two weeks over the Christmas period from 25.12.19 to 07.01.20 inclusive.

Rother District Council – Budget Consultation

Rother District Council is consulting on its budget for 2020-21 and has to find over £3M in savings.
They would like to hear your response on the options to change how their services are delivered as this work will be delivering a substantial part of their proposed savings.  The consultation is open until 31.01.20.

Black Poplar (Poplus Nigra ssp. Betulifolia) planting

Our Dallington Tree Warden has ten betulifolia whips (gender unknown) for planting before next spring.
He is currently searching for suitable planting sites and willing landowners – these trees need damp conditions.  If you are interested please contact him at [email protected]

Art Club Christmas Cards for sale

gallery of card designsDallington Art Club members have produced a range of Christmas Cards  for sale in aid of the Old School Village Hall (registered charity 289652).

On sale at the Old School Library Cafe every Monday from 2-4, the cards cost £2.50 per pack of 5 x A6 cards and envelopes, in single designs (see image) or as mixed packs. If we are low on stock, additional packs can be printed to order.

If you are unable to come in during the library cafe opening hours, please email p.ridley@brighton  if you would like to order your choice of cards and support a vital village asset.

Christmas Wreath Workshop 26th November

christmas wreathWe are delighted to announce that Pam Fuller has agreed to run a Christmas Wreath Workshop in the Old School Village Hall on Tuesday 26th November from 10-12 for just £5 per head including refreshments .

Pam will provide some materials such as wreath wire and ribbon, but asks everyone to bring the following items:

  • 3 x 14″ lengths of cupressus (cypress) or other evergreen
  • Ball of green string
  • Things to decorate your wreath with, eg holly, baubles etc

 

Snooker Competition

A Snooker Competition will take place during the first two weeks of December, in the Snooker  Room of Dallington Old School Village Hall.

Entry fee £10; winner will receive three months free use of the Snooker Room.
