Poster advertising High Weald Walking Festival Booking is now live for the High Weald Walking Festival. Choose from more than 30 FREE guided walks across the High Weald Area of Outstanding Beauty, running from Saturday 11- Sunday 19 September 2021.

How to book
You can now view the walking programme on the Festival website. If you like the look of a particular walk, just click ‘More info & book’ to go through and reserve your space. The process is quick, easy and – most importantly – every walk is free.

Library Cafe Open this Monday 19th July

In case you missed it in the longer general post about re-opening, this is a quick reminder that the library cafe will be open this Monday 29th July from 2-4pm. Everyone welcome; come and browse the new selection of books and enjoy a cup of tea and a chat.

Woodlands at War Talk Friday 6th August 7pm

“Woodlands at War: The impact and legacy of WW1 and WW2 on Britain’s Woodlands” talk by Clive Mayhew

Talk at Dallington Village Hall, Friday 6th August, 7 pm start. No entrance fee, but donations to cover the cost of refreshments would be welcome.

Description: The substantial contribution made by British woodlands over two world wars has been somewhat overlooked in subsequent histories. This talk looks at those pre-war woodlands,describes the extent of their contribution during these conflicts, and assesses its post war legacy. Village Hall re-opening soon!

We are finally reopening! After many months of waiting for national restrictions to be lifted, we can finally announce (fingers crossed) that Dallington Old School Village Hall will re-open for bookings from Monday July 19^th. Christmas Wreath Workshop 26th November

We are delighted to announce that Pam Fuller has agreed to run a Christmas Wreath Workshop in the Old School Village Hall on Tuesday 26th November from 10-12 for just £5 per head including refreshments .

Pam will provide some materials such as wreath wire and ribbon, but asks everyone to bring the following items:

3 x 14″ lengths of cupressus (cypress) or other evergreen
Ball of green string
Things to decorate your wreath with, eg holly, baubles etc

Snooker Competition

A Snooker Competition will take place during the first two weeks of December, in the Snooker Room of Dallington Old School Village Hall.

Entry fee £10; winner will receive three months free use of the Snooker Room.

St Giles Church Services in August

Sunday 4th 11am. Service of The Word
Sunday 11th 6.30pm. Evensong

Sunday 25th. 9.30am. Holy Communion

The churchyard has been looking very beautiful. Whilst keeping the grass cut in the main areas Douglas and David have left the wildflowers to the left of the path and there has been a wonderful show of ox-eye daisies and other lovely flowers.We are very grateful to our two willing volunteers, it is a delight to walk through both of the resting places.

Charlotte and Nick have kindly offered to host an Opera and Supper Evening in aid of church funds. This will take place on Sunday, August 18th. More details from Charlotte.

In July the children will have had their Leavers’ Service in the church. We wish them all a happy holiday and send our good wishes to those who are going on to new schools. We hope they remember their times in St. Giles and the words they heard there.

The Old School Village Hall

The wine tasting evening was great fun and now the committee are taking a summer break from fundraising, the next event is planned for September. More about that when dates etc. have been confirmed.

Womens Institute

The August meeting of Dallington W.I. will be a garden tea here at Staces. This will be to plan the year ahead. Visitors would be welcome. Thursday August 15th, 2pm at Staces , The Street.

Village Cricket 13th July 2019

6-a-Side Cricket at the Sugar Loaf Field, Woods Corner.
From 2pm, Saturday, 13th July, 2019

Families and Friends are invited to play 6-a-side or take part in some Clock Golf — but don’t miss out on the ‘phenomenal’ cricket tea! (Cakes and sandwiches are most welcome).

Remember a chilled white to add a little something to the proceedings.

WI Beetle Drive Cancelled

Due to circumstances beyond our control the WI Beetle Drive which was to take place this Friday 15th March has been cancelled. It will be rescheduled later in the year.
