Wild About Dark Skies Festival events – 18 – 26 February 2023 – across the High Weald are free to attend. These include planetarium shows, astronomy demonstrations, special guest speakers, dark skies walks, light pollution workshops, dark skies storytelling for children, and much more. But to make sure we can accommodate you all, it is important you book in advance to secure your place, for you and your family.

Wild About Dark Skies Festival 2023 – in association with High Weald AONB and kindly supported by Sussex Lund.

The Wild About Dark Skies Festival is a collaboration between local Wild About groups in Battle, Burwash, Crowhurst, Ticehurst and Wadhurst; East Sussex and Wadhurst Astronomical Societies; High Weald AONB Partnership; International Dark Skies and Dark Sky Lighting. It is kindly supported by Sussex Lund.

The Beacon is loaded….

Snowy field showing beacon in background The Beacon is loaded and rain protected ready for next Wednesday’s Winter Solstice event.

This will take place at the Dallington Recreation Ground  (Sugar Loaf Field) on the Battle Road, 21st December 7.00 onwards, mulled wine and food before we light the beacon (full details in our earlier post).

Road open for Quiz Night 28.10.22

A quick reminder about tomorrow’s Quiz Night and reassurance that despite the road closure signs still visible – The Street is not closed – there may still be a short single lane section outside the school, but full access to the Village Hall is available in both directions.
Friday 28th October Quiz Night – 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start
Tickets £5 per head (on the door or book in advance) to include light buffet refreshments – please bring your own drinks.

 

Road Open for Quiz Night tomorrow Friday 28th October

Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth 19th September

The government has announced that Monday 19 September, the date of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral, will be a national bank holiday.

Accordingly, Dallington Old School Village Hall will be closed  on that date so there will be no Art Club or Library Cafe.

However all other activities and bookings due to take place during the official period of mourning will continue as planned

 

Messenger Photography Competition closing soon!

A quick reminder that the closing date for the Messenger magazine photography competition is coming up soon – Monday 12th September.  Full details were published in the July issue of the Messenger, and a reminder this month but in case you missed it, the key points are:

  • This years categories are *Nature *Animals and*HM The Queens Platinum Jubilee.
  • Entries can be any size and submitted to the Editor by email to [email protected]  or post to The Editor, The Old Farmhouse, Mountfield Park Farm, TN32 5LE
    Some excellent prizes have been donated – including an Under 16 prize.

We know there are many talented photographers in Dallington so do get your entries in this weekend!

Dallington Old School Village Hall Events September 2022

  • Saturday 3rd  Library Cafe 10-12noon – our monthly Saturday morning opening
  • Mondays 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th :
    • Art Club 10am -12noon
    • Library Cafe 2pm-4pm
  • Tuesday 20th 7.30pm  Dallington Parish Council

Library Cafe Saturday 6th August 2022 & every Monday

A reminder that the next “First Saturday” Library Cafe  10am to noon is coming up this weekend. Come along  to Dallington Old School Village Hall in The Street, to browse the latest selection of books for adults and children and enjoy friendly company and refreshments. All welcome.

The Library Cafe is also open every Monday afternoon from 2-4pm.
