The Messenger Magazine PARTY (and AGM) this Friday
All readers of the Messenger Magazine are warmly invited to the annual party (and AGM), which will be held THIS FRIDAY (30th September) – starting at 7.00pm in Brightling Village Hall. (Please note correct time is 7.00 not 7.30 as previously announced)
There will be FREE DRINKS (alcoholic and soft) and nibbles. This is primarily a social occasion, an opportunity to have a relaxing chat with neighbours and others in Brightling, Dallington, Mountfield and Netherfield. It is also our AGM (Annual General Meeting) so there will be some brief formalities (very brief, we promise!) including electing the Committee that runs the magazine, and an opportunity to discuss the magazine if you wish and perhaps make suggestions for making it even better.
The Committee hopes that as many people as possible will come. It’s an opportunity to show your support for the magazine or tell us what could make it better – or just a relaxing evening with a glass of wine or something.
Hope to see you on Friday.

Two quad bikes accompanied by lurcher dogs were seen and heard on the Glazier’s Forge track in Dallington Forest by a number of parishioners around 6:30 to 7:30 am on the morning of Sunday 31st July.
The quad bike riders are likely to have had transport located in the Earls Down area where the Glazier’s Forge track meets the B2096.
Did anyone notice a vehicle with or without a trailer parked on the roadside or laybys close to this location on Sunday morning? If you have any information, please let the Rural Crime team know. You can contact PCSO Stephen Skerman at [email protected] or Dallington Parish Council via [email protected] who will pass the information on.
TPO432 LAND AT WOODS CORNER
Following on from my previous post about the Tree Preservation Order 432 land at Woods Corner (owner Westridge Construction), see link below –
Click on this link to see the post referred to above
In order that this TPO is confirmed, we are asking you to contact Legal Services for Wealden and Rother District Councils with letters of support. This must be done by 22nd August 2022.
These letters of support must be made in writing and posted to:
Wealden and Rother District Councils
Joint Legal Service
Town Hall
Bexhill-on-Sea
East Sussex TN39 3JX
It is vital that as many letters of support are received as it is entirely possible that the landowner may object/appeal the TPO.
Letters of support have been sent by Doug Edworthy (Dallington Tree Warden), who has done sterling work on this and Dallington Parish Council, you can see these on the link below.
Please contact me if you need any more information.

Summer 2022 – serious risk of fires
You will have all seen the tragic images of the recent fires in the UK, caused by very dry and hot weather.
This year, we in Dallington, have let our verges, triangles etc., remain uncut much longer to enable wild flowers to seed and we have a great deal of VERY dry grass during this hot weather.
Please remember and take extra care with:
- Barbeques
- Garden fires
- Check your compost heaps (they can self-ignite)
- Move your mirrors/glass in line with the sun through your windows
- Cigarettes thrown from cars are an incredible fire risk at the moment
Please bear the above in mind and anyone working for you that the village of Dallington is now like a tinderbox and will probably be like this all Summer.
Please do take care.
