Dallington village Christmas Lunch 14th December

You are invited to join other local friends and neighbours at the

Dallington Village Christmas Lunch

Thursday 14th December 2023 at 12 noon for 12:30(ish)

At Dallington Old School Village Hall

Tickets £10 for a 3 course Christmas lunch, inc soft drinks & coffee

Please bring a Secret Santa gift costing under £2 & your own alcohol if wanted. There will be a post box available for village (parish) Christmas cards

St Giles Church, Dallington
Harvest Service Sunday 8th October at 6.30pm
All welcome!

You are invited to bring dry goods, tinned food etc for the Hailsham Food Bank if you wish

Following the service, our Harvest Supper in the church Tickets £7 each  (in aid of Family Support Work (FSW) and our Church’s maintenance) To book tickets for the Harvest Supper please contact Jane  on 07766 434847

We shall be decorating the church on Friday 6th Oct 10am-12noon.

Forest Walks

Dallington and Brightling Forest Project Walks

Learn more of the local history, planting and harvesting of the forest.
Led by the local Tree warden Doug Edworthy

Guided Walk time approx. 2 hours with donations of around £5 which goes towards the sustainability of the Forest.

Reminder TONIGHT! Police talk on online, personal & home security

A quick reminder that this talk is tonight – Wednesday 26th July – at 7.15pm in Dallington Old School Village Hall in The Street

PCSO Nina French from our local Neighbourhood Policing Team at Battle will give us valuable advice on how to protect ourselves and our homes from crime, focussing on how to reduce the risk of being scammed and improve our phone and on line security.

Nina will also be happy to answer your questions over coffee and biscuits.

Report on Coronation celebrations:
At our service following the Coronation we were, as is often the case on ‘big occasions’, without a member of the clergy. Our Churchwarden, Wendy Miers, using material supplied on the internet, produced a service of celebration in which a number of the congregation took part.

After church there was a picnic on the recreation field which had been organised by several residents in conjunction with Dallington Parish Council. Thankfully, and unlike the loyal members of the public who cheered the King and Queen in pouring rain, we were blessed with sunshine.

There were games, cakes and a very clever photo booth tent complete with robes of state, an orb and sceptre and a throne. A lot of thought and imagination which resulted in a happy afternoon of celebration for everyone who joined in the fun.

Village Hall Events June 2023

Happy to announce that normal service has resumed after last month’s  Coronation events and multiple bank holidays:

  • Saturday 3rd June (this weekend) Library Cafe 10-12noon 
    (our monthly Saturday morning opening)

  • Thursday evenings Beginners Yoga 8-9pm
  • Friday mornings Chair Yoga  11am -12 noon

Weather forecast good for the Coronation Big Lunch Picnic Sunday 7th May!

screesnhot showing weather forecastIt may be rainy today but tomorrow’s forecast is looking good for tomorrow’s Coronation Big Lunch Picnic at the Dallington Recreation Ground  – Sunday 7th May – gates open from 12.30.

Bring your own picnic and join in the celebrations with your neighbours – there will be games and other activities including a cake competition for adults and children, and special coronation packs of wildflower seeds for the children to scatter along the edge of the field to give us a show in future years  (more details at https://dallington.org.uk/coronation-big-lunch-picnic-sunday-7th-may/

And todays rain didn’t stop our intrepid volunteers getting the site ready for the big day – decorations include the wonderful bunting made by the children of Dallington School.
